Many people consider theater to be full of drama and unrealistic scenarios, which for the most part can be true. However, there is also a misconception of theater being boring. That is quite untrue. In order to enjoy theater, you need to choose the perfect play. “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” is the perfect play to watch when you have not previously been to the theater.

As I walked into Colwell Playhouse, the setting was incredibly well put. I loved everything about it. It was fun to look at, and that made me smile. I felt like I was in a really aesthetically pleasing setting. I posted a picture about it on my social media; snapchat, and people kept asking me where I was. I was smiling about this too because I was thinking about I have the opportunity to enjoy shows like these for free while others do not. The faces at the back of the curtain kept reminding me of the emoji, and it just made me happy to realize that I was able to see an actual emoji in person. It was great.
The play as a whole was hilarious. My favorite part had to be what Charlee Amacher played. She was the funniest soldier, slave, everything that she played. She was always in a rush and being super clumsy. Due to this, I felt that she was the funniest to me because she reminded me of me. Every time I am rushing to do things, I do them very unwisely. Usually when I am running to class, I end up tripping going to the bus stop, or end up forgetting a notebook and have to come back running. Something always happens. No matter what, this play was amazing and I would recommend to anyone. It’s worth the two plus hours. There is a plot twist that nobody can imagine, and I think that was one of the best things about it too.
