In a change of events, I got to go see a musical performance off campus.
My boyfriend surprised me with concert tickets to go see Mitski. Mitski is a Japanese-American singer song writer. She came to the Old National Centre in Indianapolis, Indiana for the tour of her most recent album, Be the Cowboy.
I have been listening to Mitski for awhile and recently started to listen to her a lot because of her most recent album. I find her music really speaks to me and is very relatable in terms of being a woman. She has a very beautiful voice but what she sings about is also amazing. Her songs are much more than songs about love and breakups.
The show itself was amazing, even better than expected. She sounded even better than the recorded version! Her stage presence is probably what made the show so amazing though. She had a table and chair which she moved around the stage with each song. It was as if she was telling a story on stage while she was singing about it. I have not been to such an intimate show like this before.
The whole show was very moving to me, much like her music. I felt very connected to her in a way that most artists are unable to do for me. I hope I get to see her again because I loved this experience! The lights were also very cool and the whole show had a very relaxing feel.
