On April 25, 2019 the Campus and University bands performed at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Foellinger Great Hall.
I like this performance because it was not what I was expecting. I went in thinking it was going to be the typical performance with violins and violas. The performance consisted of flutes, trombones, tuba, trumpet, etc which was very unexpected.
My favorite performance was Symphony No. 4. I liked this piece because I consisted of different speeds. It started off fast, then transition to smooth and flowing, and ending fast. Each transition was surprising because of the first part. I was thinking the entire piece was going to stay the same pace but when the conductor changed the pace it caught me off guard. the only thing that I did not like was all of the movement after each piece was over. It was distracting to watch.
Each piece was conducted by a graduate assistant in the Department of Fine Art and Appliances except the opening and closing performance. The lead conductor Barry L. Houser conducted the opening and the closing.
