The two serious relationships I have had were both long distance, so this is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. These were VERY long distance, one was in Oregon and one was in Pennsylvania. The biggest thing these experiences taught me is that the problem with these types of relationship is not distance, the problem is absence. My ex boyfriend was going through a hard time once and said to me: “I don’t want you to be there for me. I want you to be here for me,” and that has always stuck with me. My video gives a “how-to” on how to make your boyfriend/girlfriend feel like you are there, even though you are not. More importantly, it shows them that you care, even if can’t show them by them being there.
A study done at Cornell University showed that long distance relationships often include greater intimacy than local ones. The researchers asked 63 heterosexual couples about their relationships, half of them were in long distance and they other half were not. Most of the people in long distance relationships reported longer conversations, more happiness, and a greater relationships fulfillment.
Long distance relationships can be stressful, but hopefully these tricks help you feel closer!
