This past week was spring break for University of Illinois students. Instead of heading home for the week or going to a relaxing resort in Mexico, 45 students dedicated their time off to serve communities in need.
Students Today Leaders Forever is a national organization that plans service trips for college, high school, and middle school students. According to the website, since starting in 2003, there have been 552 “Pay it Forward” tours to date and 309,000 hours served.
Participants travel to a new city each day where they complete a service project, have time for tourism, and partake in leadership and reflection activities.
This year the University of Illinois chapter went to several cities down south, with a final destination of San Antonio, Texas.
