For this video essay, I had originally planned to do something entirely different. However, my main connection fell through, so I had to go to plan B. One of my coworkers, Joli, has a dog on campus, and I thought it would be interesting to do a video essay about her to get some perspective on what it’s like working, being a student, and taking care of a pet. Plus I love dogs!
This assignment was entertaining to do especially because I got to film my roommate in almost every clip. It’s fun to get your friends involved in your schoolwork, especially video, because you’re able to have interaction and make it more enjoyable. At first I wasn’t sure what to do a video essay on and kept putting it aside until the last minute. During the time I should have been filming, I was doing exactly what I did the actual video essay on, watching Netflix. I know a lot of people get easily distracted by Netflix while doing their homework so I thought this would be a funny video essay to watch in class. I had a good time doing this assignment because I feel like I’m really getting used to using the camera and editing with adobe, which made is less frustrating than the previous assignments. Netflix Becomes First Priority By College Students
Much of what college students consider a major problem in their college lives includes getting easily distracted and not completing their schoolwork. Students are easily distracted by social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and most importantly Netflix. A lot of students can relate to this problem of trying to do homework for countless hours but ending up searching what movies just got released to stream on Netflix instead.
According to a news article written for The Daily Toreador, Netflix has dragged in more than 29 million users since they first started the website. College students are a big chunk of this amount. Graybeal, who is a College of Media professor, explains that nine of out every ten college students use Netflix to binge-watch television and are regularly distracted by it. Exact ages are between 18 and 19 years old. You can find the link to research more about Netflix usage here.

Where last week my issues stemmed from capturing the basketball game, this week all my issues were technical. I went into the lab and sat down and though to myself I have no idea what to do. I legitimately didn’t even know where to start.
