School is back in full swing at the University of Illinois and the campus recreation centers are booming with activity as students have settled in during the first month. For senior Tim Szklarzewski and junior Jason Man, this means that nearly every afternoon from today until the school will be filled with hours upon hours of basketball.
According to Szklarzewski, he and many other students spend the majority of their afternoons at one of the UIUC campus recreation centers: CRCE. The student population has been making the most of the 15 basketball courts, 2 indoor soccer courts and the wide variety of multipurpose rooms.
Students are spending their time playing pick up games and also competing in the many intramural activities at the campus recreation centers, consisting of basketball, soccer and volleyball, among others.
Hitting the gym is a part of some people’s every day lifestyle. There is always a mix of physical activities you can choose from at Campus Recreation Center East (CRCE). They have anything from machines, to running on the track, to playing sports. Maggie Benson, a student at the University of Illinois visits the gym regularly to keep in shape. She enjoys muscle strengthening by doing workouts on the ground and cardio workouts on the machines. CRCE is a popular workout destination for students at the University.
Keeping up with physical activity is good for your health. There are plenty of benefits for going to the gym.
