Final Reflection – Goethals

When I started this semester, I was very nervous about this class. I had never used a nice camera before and have no background knowledge about editing, photography, or making videos. Writing is really more of my forté, so this class sounded like a challenge. I think all of that is pretty evident in my first project, when we were supposed to get to know our camera. I had no idea what to shoot, and it didn’t even occur to me to make my videos of things that were actually moving (something, in hindsight I probably should have figured out, but I was already feeling like a fish out of water). I remember taking a 5 second video of the wall and thinking to myself “I’m not sure what purpose this is serving? But I’m pretty sure this is what Professor Collins said to do? Must be something about video that I don’t know about?” But I did, however, end up getting a couple still shots that I liked out of the project, which took me by surprise. Continue reading

For college students, it’s often a frequent occurrence to run out of both time and money. Kraft mac n’ cheese is a delicious meal, that only takes a few minutes to prepare and is very cheap to make. Kraft also makes other affordable products that you can check out on their website.  They have other prepackaged meals there, and also other possible snacks and recipes you can make. Its important for students to have different types of possibilities for their current restraints, especially a budget. image1   Card tricks are always a great way to pass the time. They also provide entertainment and priceless reactions when they are completed correctly. For my How-To video I decided to teach a pretty simple card trick that you can use on your roommates, friends, and family.

In a few basic steps this video will teach you how to guess a participants card. In order to land the card trick you’re going to have to make sure you have cards and an attention span. This trick requires you to remember two cards — your ‘key card’ and the participants card once you figure out what they chose. After that, all you need to know how to do is spell!
