Illinois civilians have been freezin’ for a reason at the 15th annual Polar Plunge.
From February 21st through March 23rd, people gathered together to help raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. Participants were required to raise at least $75 in order to participate in the Polar Plunge, which involved running through a lot of chilly Illinois lakes. (20 lakes were included this year!)
Throughout the last 15 years, approximately $10.2 million have been raised by the Illinois PolarPlunge. This money goes to support Special Olympics Illinois, who work to provide an athletic outlet for people with intellectual disabilities.
