How To Make Pumpkin Pie

I had a lot of fun with our “How-To” assignment. I decided to make a video on pumpkin pie because it’s the fall season and pumpkin pie is my favourite kind of pie. I tried to get a lot of close-up shots because I thought it would be the best way to explain what I was saying in the voice-over. I only used one still with sub-titles because I thought using video was more effective. Overall, I had a lot of fun making this video and the pie was very delicious!

Curtis Orchard Reflection

I had screen-shot-2016-10-14-at-1-00-41-pma great time filming this package. I have never been to Curtis Orchard, so I thought I would cover a story on it! I borrowed a TV camera so I could use one of the recording mics for my interviews. Unfortunately my tripod was kind of damaged, so I had to really focus on keeping the camera still. I tried to get a lot of shots in the pumpkin patch with the kids to make my footage playful and colorful. I was fortunate enough to interview Chris Curtis, and I think he provided a lot of useful information for my package. Overall I had a lot of fun with this project… and I most definitely tried the apple cider!

Mumps Outbreak Subsides

The UIUC Campus during fall. Picture was found on Reddit

Before students arrived back on campus in the fall, many large news outlets had reported of a mumps outbreak on the University of Illinois campus. Students were encouraged to get re-vaccinated before returning to campus. Three months into the school year and the chatter has died down. Now that the changing of the seasons is coming, many people will start to get the sniffles and some will get a common cold. Will students be able to tell the difference between this and mumps? Check out this video to learn the difference and see what students think of the mumps outbreak.

Information on mumps and how to prevent it can be found on McKinley Health Center’s website.

Fall Festival parades through southern Illinois community

For Johnson County in southern Illinois, the first week of October is more than just the start of a new month. It’s the beginning of the area’s biggest fall celebration: the Fall Festival.

This year, despite cold temperatures and blistery winds, the festival’s main attraction, the parade, went off without a hitch and was one of the best in recent years according to many locals.

It seems that bad weather is becoming the calling card of the parade, as this is not the first year mother nature has not complied.

A Quick and Easy, Delicious Fall Treat

The leaves are changing color, the air is getting colder, the clothes are getting thicker, and that could only mean one thing… Fall is finally here! Fall is the favorite season of many people because of Halloween, the fashion, etc., but it is my favorite because of the food. Once fall hits, everything pumpkin flavored comes out including pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin cookies, etc. Many of those things may be difficult to make. However, in this video, I will teach you how to make the most simplest fall treat, pumpkin bread. It only takes a few ingredients, which many of us already have at home.
